OFFICIAL RULES:
- The Amateur Beer Cheese winner will be determined by a panel of judges through a blind taste test.
- Amateur contestants must submit samples to City Hall (32 Wall Street) no later than 11 a.m. the day of the contest, which is Saturday, June 14, 2025.
- Official Beer Cheese Festival numbered containers will be presented to each contestant upon arrival. Each container will consist of three 3-ounce souffle cups. Once received, the entry and cups will be assigned a number. **NOTE: You will need to have at least 8 ounces of beer cheese for sampling.**
- A master log will be kept, matching the entrant to the sample. This is to ensure blind judging.
- Amateur contestants are responsible for transferring their beer cheese samples into the numbered souffle cups.
- NO other garnishments or items are allowed. If other items are present, the beer cheese will be disqualified.
- Official judging will begin at 11 a.m. on the contest day inside City Hall. The judging area will be closed off to the public during this time.
- Each judge will score each entry for appearance, smell, texture and taste before moving on to the next entry.
- The scoring system will be from 5 to 25.
- Judging will end by 2 p.m. the day of the contest.
- Votes will be tallied and submitted to the official Beer Cheese Festival representative.
- Winners will be announced at 5 p.m. on the Courthouse steps. Winners will also be notified via email or phone call if they are not present during the public announcement.
Grounds for disqualification: Unapproved garnish, marked turn-in container, foreign object in container or fewer than three samples of beer cheese.
